Kids tend to have a lot of questions and ideas. They seem to be curious about almost everything and this may result in a lot of crazy ideas arising in their mind. I grew up with a lot of weird ideas and assumptions. This I thought would be my first blog all about.
My beliefs when I was a kid were mainly based on to the introduction of new ideas through the medium of movies, science and religion.
I used to pray daily in the evening, without thinking much about God. But later, when I was in trouble serious trouble (lied about something, got a note from the teacher etc.) and getting prepared to be scolded, I really prayed. I prayed before exams. I prayed when Sachin was batting. I prayed when I had to get up at 6 in the morning had to go to cricket practice with no one on the streets besides me and when I saw some ghost like figures at a distance. Sometimes I avoided the scolding, sometimes I scored good marks, sometimes Sachin scored a century and sometimes I learnt that the figure on the street is not an old ghost like woman, but just a cloth on a low tree branch. This was when I really believed in Him.
I heard about the big bang theory and how it expanded since the beginning and is still expanding. This was said to be the universe (the combination of matter and gases) and they said that the universe is infinite. As a kid I would think if universe is limitless then what was there outside that ball (termed universe) which is still expanding or where is that ball expanding in?
In fourth standard, I knew that I had to direct a movie, a horror movie. I had prepared the story in my mind had edited the details a million times. Gathering all my strength, I told this story to my elder friend on a karate camp at Lonavala. He was transfixed listening to the story and said it would be a great hit. With this initial positive review, I told the story to my parents, who tried hard to conceal their smiles. My dad said “But, there is a problem. No one would watch it if the movie doesn’t have a heroin (actress)”
And finally, my most important childhood belief at age 8- The thought that I was the most significant person in the world. Everybody else is just living their lives in order to support my life (my life being of prime importance). My parents, my friends and everyone else do not have any purpose in their life. They just have to live around me so that I can live and achieve something (something very important, but did not know what).
If there any extra terrestrials, would they have the same senses as humans? Does the physical and mental attributes of an individual (say chubbiness or intelligence) remain even if he or she is reincarnated in something else? If everyone is reincarnated in someone else, then how does the balance of the number of souls remain with the ever increasing population? The questions never ceased….

good one... keep going...

ReplyDeleteNice post "Hirvaldo"!. Some of the things you mentioned here like God, Big Bang even I had found interesting and used to think a lot about it. There were few more things like death, relativity, reality etc.
